LPD: End-of-Season Fishing Lessons & Notes

Use the Black/Yellow Dots PM for murky/stained water;
-> Better silhouettes

Use the Durango / 1500 reel when fishing in low conditions, especially with structure/brush present
-> there's too much opportunity for the fish to dive and wrap the line around the branches
-> the Ugly Stik doesn't have enough power to put pressure on the big boys

Use the extendable net, even if lures get caught
-> a landed fish and a snagged lure is better than a lost fish

KEEP DRAG LOOSER rather than TIGHTER
-> too many fish lost with drags too tight
-> e.g. snapped lures, lost fish, broken line, play fish, etc.

Sickness, Airshow, Birthday, Red Egg/Ginger, G-Men, Hired, etc.........

It's been quite a busy day/week/month!

I got sick (had a 103-degree fever) and got wiped out for a week.

Got interviewed to be a substitute teacher and just signed the paperwork yesterday! I can now sub in any elem. school in my local school district! WOOHOO!

Also, ~10 minutes ago, the SF Giants clinched the NL WEST!
Repeat of 2010 coming up next!

Just got back fr/ my cousin's red egg/ginger party for their new daughter, and had some gooooooood fooooood! Also, found out their other daughter (my second cousin, ~4-5 years old) watches my YouTube videos! Freakin' AWESOME!!! I've gotta give her (and them) a shoutout in my next video!

Also, the California International Airshow is happening, and I saw probably THE best show by the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds that I've ever seen. Their timing (especially in sync with the music) was AMAZING! There were really no lulls in the action, and everything was on point. 'Twas a great show! Tucker was amazing as usual, and The Patriots were great as well!

Jr.'s bday is officially today, so I hope he'll have many hours of fun playing TORCHLIGHT 2 (which just came out on the 20th, 2 days ago!)!

Life is pretty good right now. I've gotta take care of myself.
Your health is YOUR life. You're the one in charge. Take care of your body.
It's the only one you've got. Make good decisions. Do it right!

KinderFirst Day

Finished the first day as a student teacher as a "teacher candidate" in the Kindergarten classroom.
Was so cool. So simple. Life was simple back then.
The first 15 minutes begins with leisure time for the students, such as reading, drawing, etc.
The next three hours included simple letter identification, reading time, drawing, and coloring.
The hardest part of the day (that I noticed) was simply keeping the students in line. As some have said before, Kindergarten includes much "keeping in line," as disciplining is not really an option.
First impressions were good. I had a fun time doing my music lesson, and felt pretty comfortable, albeit the occasional "_____, I'm talking. What are we doing right now? We're listening."
There was a lot of coloring, drawing, learning about the year, day, how many days they'd been in school, etc.
I love the simplicity, the innocence, the scheduling, simple lesson plans, etc.
We'll see how my reflections are at the end of the semester...

Fishing 2011 + Undergraduate Degree = 3.798 GPA

So just got the grades back for the final semester of my undergraduate career, and got all A's!
Three A+'s, three A's, and one A-!
This news came much to the amusement of dad, because he knew that I went fishing the MOST times in the last (Fall) semester than in any other semester of my undergrad career.

And now, and look at the fish caught in 2011!

EQ: Video Editing Audio

So through my (however painful) trial and error, the first collab video will be up shortly.
The main thing was fiddling with the audio and the difficulty with videos that are not synced properly. You can get by with badly-synced video, but the audio is what takes the cake.
Also, not having a full-blown audio editing software program doesn't help. I've mainly used Audacity (free) for my own recordings and music, but having real-time linear audio editing within the video program is both a blessing and a curse. Having one is the blessing, syncing the audio with less features is the curse.
But what do I want for free? : ]
Basically the moral of the story for me was to record all levels (live audio) at a high frequency, either in actual recording or using Audacity to amplify the tracks. Then you can bring levels down to their proper levels. Just as resizing an image down is much easier than resizing an image up in size (because of resolution and sharpness), so also audio that's recorded loudly can be toned down easier without the crackling associated with audio too low and then amplified - you'd basically have too much BG noise as well.
But whatevs. It's going to be a great video, and I hope you guys love it!
: ]

P.S. Also, it's good to lay out how each video will look on the final video beforehand...this way you'll know which videos to layer on top or behind, and can position yourself correctly in each video to make a video where no "dead space" is left from overlapping videos.

Day 10: First YT Collab-B.E Music (youtube.com/BEMusicRecords

It's been an interesting (and groundbreaking, even,) experience working with other YouTubers (Break Even Music) from across the States, roughly 2,300 miles away from my hometown. It's been 10 days and I've learned much from the experience thus far. Exempli Gratia: collaborating is a fairly long process when working with music, parts, harmony, software, etc. It is definitely more time consuming for the fact that when making your own videos you have your own time schedule where you know when you can schedule recording/editing sessions, but the other YTer(s) have his/her own schedule as well.

Overall I believe that this will be a rewarding experience. Our first take of the video sounded great. They harmonized well with what I had put out there as the first version, and then we communicated through various channels until we were able to get a sense of how we wanted the song to go.

Check out their channel: youtube.com/BEMusicRecords

I'll be recording new vocals hopefully later today, sending it through YT to them, and then they'll be making their video based on my vocals.
Then I just have to record piano, bass guitar, and strings, and we'll have our first YT collab evarrr!

DYTM-First Combo EVERRRRR!!!

So after much trial and error, much deliberation and meditation, I figured out how to (due to the constraints of my pocketbook and programs) put effectively and synced videos onto one video. Here's the product, Switchfoot's hit song "Dare You To Move" which so happens to be (pretty much) my favorite songggg!
Enjoy!

DYTM COMBO! - LIMITED VIEWERSHIP!

So after making the video and posting to YT, I found I highly disliked the vocals that I did. (I mean, of course I know I can't sing, but in this case it was worse than bad.)
So here's the video that'll only be up until my other (and somewhat better) version comes up!

Corel: Videos on Videos Ability (Part 3)

I've thought about the idea for a fair amount of time after getting shut down last time. Why not separate the audio from the videos, align them correctly, and then align the videos (and mute them) with their matching audio?
I tried it, and voilĂ , it worked!
I hadn't had the time to figure out how to do it, but since I'm on break, and after downloading AoA Audio Extractor, it worked like a charm!
My next post will be the fruit of my labors.
